But.... if I find out that I get the job tomorrow or Friday that leaves me not giving any notice to my current job that I am quitting. Next week is the busiest week of the year and one of the other managers is on vacation so I am really needed. I wish I could give a two week notice and I don't want to burn any bridges with them. I really love all my coworkers. I make $ 10 an hour now and progressive pays $ 15 and hour. Is the money worth quitting a job I love? well you're smart to weigh out the options - so give yourself some credit - here's the thing - being a claims rep might suck - you're going to have to deal with all kinds of people, and they aren't going to be thrilled to speak with you, especially if you have to tell them that they've been denied coverage. however, you said yourself there's no room for advancement. is there any way that Progressive won't allow you to give your old job even a week's notice? when you applied did it say anywhere "must be able to start immediately?" if not, then i would discuss with them that if you accept the job you'll be giving notice. these are tough economic times, and employers do understand that you have to do what you have to do for your own benefit - if they refuse to offer raises or advancement, then how could they blame anyone for leaving for better opportunities? the best way to get out of this gracefully - IF you choose to take the job, is to be honest and say "I've greatly enjoyed the opportunity to work here, however I've received another offer that would benefit me greatly financially to the point that i can't refuse it." and then see if the place you like is willing to match them - if they run the risk of losing a valued employee they may cough up the $ $ to keep you. if not, you gave them the opportunity to do so, so don't feel guilty.

If there are not companies barking down your door at job fairs or through your business school's career office, you should start applying to the MBA leadership programs. I wouldn't sign anything but by getting the process for those started, you'll be better able to gauge opportunities and salary against each other as you get closer to graduation and individual job opporunities pop up.
